Maurizio Barboro. Si è formato artisticamente sotto la guida di Lya De Barberiis, presso l’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Roma. Premiato, come solista e in Duo pianistico, in Concorsi pianistici nazionali ha intrapreso, dal 1980, un’intensa carriera solistica che lo ha visto collaborare con Orchestre prestigiose e Direttori di provata esperienza in tutta Europa, in Asia e in America del Nord. Ha tenuto circa 650 concerti tra i quali si segnalano in particolare i Recital presso la Gasteig di Monaco di Baviera; la collaborazione come solista, sotto la direzione del maestro Ovidiu Balan, con la celebre Orchestra Sinfonica “Enescu” presso la Sala Ateneo di Bucarest; i Concerti presso la storica Jordan Hall di Boston, con la Longwood Symphony Orchestra diretta dal maestro Francisco Noya; l’inaugurazione della Stagione 2008/09 dell’Accademia “Stefano Tempia” nella Sala del Conservatorio “Verdi” di Torino con la “Fantasia corale” di Beethoven.

Nel 1996 è stato nominato “artista residente” della Filarmonica di Stato “Dumitrescu” di R.Valcea (Romania). Si dedica intensamente alla musica cameristica in formazione di Duo con il violoncellista Dario Destefano, come componente del Nuovo Quartetto Pianistico Italiano (due pianoforti a 8 mani) e collaborando frequentemente con artisti di fama internazionale quali i flautisti Maxence Larrieu e Giuseppe Nova e i violinisti Aiman Mussakhajayeva e Gernot Winischhofer. Particolarmente attivo come didatta, è titolare della Cattedra di Pianoforte principale presso il Conservatorio “Vivaldi” di Alessandria e l’Accademia Musicale di Savona; tiene master class presso Accademie europee (Timisoara e Valcea in Romania, Vendome in Francia, Poznan in Polonia, Gibraltar ),americane (Boston Conservatory,Longy School of Music,Sosu University of Oklahoma,Vancouver Clark College) e asiatiche (Astana,Kazakhstan). Sovente chiamato a far parte delle Giurie di Concorsi pianistici, è Direttore artistico del Concorso Internazionale “Città di Ovada - Premio Franz Schubert” e dell’Associazione Musicale “Alfredo Casella” di Novi Ligure. Ha registrato, ottenendo sempre lusinghieri apprezzamenti dalla critica specializzata, l’integrale dei Concerti per Pianoforte e Orchestra di Shostakovich, le Sonate di Brahms, Franck, Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich e Kabalevsky per violoncello e pianoforte,le composizioni originali per due pianoforti a otto mani (etichette Real Sound e Phoenix).

Maurizio Barboro. Maurizio Barboro completed his artistical education at the “Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia” in Rome, under the guidance of Lya De Barberiis.Winner of Italian piano competitions, since 1980 he has combined an intense career in Italy as well as in the major cultural centres in Europe,Asia and North America,collaborating with famous conductors and prestigious orchestras.Since 1996 Barboro has been currently “artist in residence” and “permanent soloist” of the “Dumitrescu” Philharmonic Orchestra of Valcea (Romania). In 1999 he made his debut in the United States, where now he is periodically invited to hold master classes at institutions such as the Boston Conservatory, the Longy School of Music and the Rivers School.In October 2000 he inaugurated the symphonic season of the Berkshire Symphony Orchestra (Massachusetts) with Rachmaninoff’s Second Concert.In April 2001 he played Shostakovich’s Second Concert, accompanied by the prestigious “Enescu” Philharmonic Orchestra at the Bucharest Ateneu Hall. During 2004 and 2005 concert-seasons he played with the Longwood Orchestra at the Jordan Hall in Boston. Barboro also performs in various distinguished chamber music ensembles like “Nuovo Quartetto Pianistico Italiano”(two pianos,eight hands), with the violinists Aiman Musakhodzhaeva and Gernot Winischhofer,the flutists Maxence Larrieu and Giuseppe Nova, the cellist Dario Destefano.He has undertaken several recordings of works by Italian composers for reputed National TV and Radio networks in both Western and Eastern Europe;other notable CD recordings include the complete works for two pianos,eight hands,the works of the Italian contemporary composer Mario Panatero,the complete collection of Shostakovich’s Piano Concertos (with the Belarus National Philharmonic Orchestra),the Brahms,Franck,Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich and Kabalevsky Sonatas for Cello and Piano.Maurizio Barboro is the holder of the Chair of Piano at the “Antonio Vivaldi” State Conservatory in Alessandria and at the International Summer Courses in Bergolo.He is a member of the jury of several prestigious international contests,Art Director of the “Città di Ovada” International Competition and of the “Alfredo Casella” Music Association, and President of the “Città di Racconigi – Schubert Prize” Contest.
